 Model Train Crossing is dedicated to giving our customers the best possible service when they order their hobby products over the Internet. This includes safe and secure processing of your sensitive credit card information using the highest data encryption available today, fast processing of your order - usually within 48 hours (sometimes a little longer for those hard to find items), We appreciate your business and will react quickly to your needs .

 

ONLINE ORDER STATUS

 Model Train Crossing understands how important providing accurate and up-to-date order status information is to our customers. We want to keep you informed of your order's progression through our system from the time you place your order until it arrives at your doorstep. We accomplish this by sending you detailed email notices as the status of your order changes.

The first email you will receive is your order confirmation. It is our way of telling you we have received your order and we will be processing it based on the time schedule included with the email.

Processing Times:

  • "Will ship in 24 hours" - All merchandise is available for immediate shipping on next business day
  • "Will ship in 2-3 days" - Your order should be processed and shipped in 2-3 business days. This is our best estimate of total time to complete order (including procurement time)
  • "Will ship in 4-7 days" - Your order should be processed and shipped in 4-7 business days. This is our best estimate of total time to complete order (including procurement time)

    Remember that processing times have no relationship with shipping methods chosen.

    Based on special circumstances, you may receive other Processing Times, but the above will be used for most orders.

    Credit Card Declined Notice

    If you receive a "Credit Card Declined" status email, you may have entered a wrong credit card number or expiration date. Your order will be refused and marked bogus and you will need to resubmit your order to  Model Train Crossing using the correct information.

    Status Alert Notices

    During the processing of your order, you may receive additional emails alerting you to status changes.

    Shipping Alert Notice

    You will receive a final email from  Model Train Crossing alerting you that your order has shipped. This email will give you detailed information on all line items; shipped, out of stock, backordered, discontinued and not yet released. It will also contain your order's tracking number(s).

    GREAT FILL RATES

    Many of our customers are amazed at our great fill rates. Our ability to complete your order as fully as we can stems from our total committment to providing our customers the best possible rate of fill during the processing of your transaction. No one at  Model Train Crossing likes "out of stock" situations!

    Should I assume that everything listed on your website is in stock?

    Good question. It would be wrong to assume that any dealer carries everything in stock at all times. It isn't a realistic expectation. Now that's not to say we don't have a rather large inventory of goods on hand to support your needs.
     Model Train Crossing has agreements with the top national Hobby Distributors. These relationships allows us to supplement our inventory with over 500,000 additional items. This approach to inventory control has allowed us to grow our business, become more efficient and offer you outstanding fill rates without the burden of huge inventories. It goes a long way to alleviate "out of stock" situations and means that the chances are excellent that  Model Train Crossing will be able to complete your order and ship 100% of your merchandise in the alloted processing time. Please, there really isn't a need to call us and ask if a certain item is in stock when we can usually get it for you in  two or three  business days.

    UPS Standard Ground S&H UPS Ground default charge of $9.99 is based on one standard-sized 4 lbs. package shipped to contiguous USA.  You will be charged actual cost on heavier, oversized and multiple carton orders.  We are sure you realize that a huge package weighing many pounds cannot be shipped for the standard default fee.  UPS cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes. You must enter a valid street address to receive your shipment. 3-5 Business Days from shipping date.
    UPS 2nd Day Service UPS 2nd Day Service default charge of $23.74 is based on one standard-sized 4 lbs. package shipped to contiguous USA.  You will be charged actual cost on heavier, oversized and multiple carton orders.  We are sure you realize that a huge package weighing many pounds cannot be shipped for the standard default fee.  UPS cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes. You must enter a valid street address to receive your shipment. 2 Business Days from shipping date
    UPS 3 Day Select UPS 3 Day Select Service default charge of $18.99 is based on one standard-sized 4 lbs. package shipped to contiguous USA.  You will be charged actual cost on heavier, oversized and multiple carton orders.     UPS Next Day Air UPS Next Day Air default charge of $29.74 is based on one standard-sized 4 lbs. package shipped to contiguous USA.  You will be charged actual cost on heavier, oversized and multiple carton orders.   We are sure you realize that a huge package weighing many pounds cannot be shipped for the standard default fee.  UPS cannot deliver to P.O.      Model Train Crossing cannot guarantee UPS Next Day Air delivery on out of stock items. Call first for availability.
    USPS Priority Mail S&H Contiguous USA. USPS Priority Mail default charge of $8.99 is for one standard-sized 4 lbs. package shipped to Contiguous USA.  You will be charged actual cost on heavier, oversized and multiple carton orders. Shipping to Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, Guam slightly higher. 2-4 days from shipping date.
    USPS Express Mail S&H USPS Express Mail is our fastest service, with next day delivery by 12 noon to most destinations. USPS Express Mail is delivered 365 days a year with no extra charge for Saturday, Sunday, or holiday delivery. Fully trackable, requiring signature of addressee at time of delivery. Default charge of $27.25 is based on one standard size 4 lbs. package shipped to Contiguous USA destinations.  You will be charged actual amount plus a small special handling fee on heavier items over 4lbs. Size and weight limitations apply (must weigh 70 pounds or less and measure 108 inches or less in combined length and girth). Overnight to most U.S. Destinations.  Model Train Crossing cannot guarantee Express Mail delivery on out of stock items. Call first for availability.
    USPS Global Express Mail 
    (Canada Only)
    All Canadian Orders Default charge is $19.25 for a 4 lbs. parcel but you will be charged actual cost on oversized or extremely heavy items. All Canadian orders will be sent via USPS Global Express Mail with proof of delivery required. All duties, GST and PST fees are the customer's responsibility.  Model Train Crossing does not charge these fees. 4-7 business days from shipping date.
    USPS Global Express Mail (All Foreign Orders Except Canada) Global Express Mail is our service of choice for larger orders being shipped to overseas destinations. Global Express Mail is fully trackable, requiring signature of addressee at time of delivery. Default amount ($36.00) shown on your order is based on one standard-sized 4 lbs. parcel. You will be charged actual cost of shipping plus a small documentation fee on heavier items over 4lbs. Size and weight limitations apply (parcel must weigh 70 pounds or less and measure 108 inches or less in combined length and girth. Customer is responsible for all local taxes and customs fees. 4-7 business days from shipping date.
    UPS International UPS International is an excellent service for smaller sized orders weighing under 4 pounds. Some remote destinations (usually 50 km from a major city) will be levied additional "Distant Delivery" surcharges of $20.00 USD and UPS is currently charging an additional "Fuel Surcharge" of 12% on all international shipments. UPS International uses dimensional weight calculations. Don't select this service if you are ordering large items. The dimensional weight will dramatically effect your total shipping costs. Remember, the $36.00 default charge will be increased to cover the actual cost of shipping to your location based on the above additional fees. Customer is responsible for all local taxes and customs fees. UPS International is fully trackable, requiring signature of addressee at time of delivery. 2-4 Days from shipping date
    SMALL ITEMS, SHIPPED BY THEMSELVES,and OTHER LIGHT WEIGHT ITEMS WILL ALWAYS BE CHARGED AT A REDUCED RATE BASED ON ACTUAL COST. PLEASE DISREGARD ANY DEFAULT SHIPPING CHARGES SHOWN ON YOUR ORDER. THEY WILL BE REDUCED AT TIME OF SHIPPING.

    We reserve the right to alter order shipping method based on parcel size, weight and destination.


    SHIPPING COST ARE HIGHER, DUE TO HIGHER FUEL COST AND ADJUSTMENTS

    SHIPPING TO HAWAII AND ALASKA

     Model Train Crossing, Inc. requires that our customers in Hawaii and Alaska choose USPS Priority Mail as their shipping method. The default $10.50 charge covers a 4 lbs. parcel. Heavier packages will be charged on an actual cost basis and the difference added to your final invoice.

    All military APO and FPO addresses will be shipped out using our standard shipping rates. We do, however, recommend that for faster delivery you choose USPS Priority Mail as your shipping method. US Customs Declaration Form will accompany shipment.



    PAYMENT METHODS

    We accept the following forms of payment for your order:




    NOTE: WE CAN ONLY SHIP PAYPAL ORDERS TO A PAYPAL VERIFIED ADDRESS. THE NAME ON THE PAYPAL ACCOUNT MUST BE EXACTLY THE SAME AS SHOWN ON THE SHIP TO AND BILLING ADDRESS. THERE IS NO EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE. ALL PAYPAL ORDERS WILL REQUIRE SIGNATURE OF RECIPIENT AT TIME OF DELIVERY.

    ALL PRICES ARE IN US DOLLARS - WE ACCEPT NO FOREIGN CURRENCY, CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS. MONEY ORDERS DRAWN ON FOREIGN BANKS ARE SUBJECT $10.00 SERVICE CHARGE



    Due to the large amount of fraudulent orders, We are  currently only shipping merchandise to the United States, Canada and a limited number of other countries. We will, however, accept prepaid orders for shipment overeseas using an International Money Order or Bank Wire Transfer.     THERE IS A $150.00 LIMIT (INCLUDING SHIPPING & HANDLING) ON ALL FOREIGN ORDERS. If your order is over this $150.00 amount, you will be asked to pay in advance, using an International Money Order, before we can ship out your merchandise. Certain products are restricted for overseas sales. This includes all RC Cars & Trucks, RC Airplanes & Helicopters, RC Boats & Ships, Train Sets, Paints, Software and Large Oversized Products.

    RETURN POLICY

     Model Train Crossing will only accept returned merchandise with a valid Return Merchandise Authorization(RMA)Tag. All authorized returns will be credited to your account, less original shipping charges. All returns, other than shipping damaged goods or incorrect shipments, are subject to a 15% restocking fee. CUSTOMER MUST PAY FOR SHIPPING ON RETURNS. NO POSTAGE DUE RETURNS WILL BE ACCEPTED AND NO CREDITS WILL BE ISSUED FOR SHIPPING CHARGES. REFUSED SHIPMENTS WILL ALSO BE CHARGED 15% RE-STOCKING FEE AND WILL BE CREDITED LESS SHIPPING FEES.

    You will receive a valid RMA Tag within 10 business days of acceptance of your request. Please affix this tag to the outside of the shipping carton.

    Items must be returned 15 days from receipt of merchandise in its original packaging and original unused and resellable condition. (to be determined when package arrives at  Model Train Crossing). All items requiring manufacturer's warranty repair or replacement must be handled directly through the individual manufacturer and should not be returned to  Model Train Crossing. We reserve the right to refuse all such returns. Please contact us if you need information on manufacturer's address or phone number.

    Damaged Merchandise

    If a package has been damaged in shipping and it is apparent when the package arrives at your door, please REFUSE the delivery. If you have already accepted a package, and then discover that it has been damaged, call us immediately. We'll take it from there. Be sure to save all paperwork and packing material with the damaged goods. The carrier may wish to inspect it before processing the claim. Please do not return damaged-in-shipment merchandise to  Model Train Crossing unless told to do so. It could jeopardize your claim and keep you from receiving credit for the return.

    TRAINSET RETURN POLICY

     Model Train Crossing IS NOT IN THE TRAINSET RENTAL BUSINESS. WE DO NOT CONDONE THE RECENT PRACTICE OF PURCHASING A TRAINSET, SETTING IT UP FOR THE HOLIDAYS AND THEN ATTEMPTING TO RETURN IT IN JANUARY.

    UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL  Model Train Crossing ACCEPT A TRAIN SET FOR RETURN WITHOUT A PRE-ASSIGNED AND APPROVED RMA NUMBER.

    UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL  Model Train Crossing ACCEPT A TRAIN SET FOR RETURN THAT HAS BEEN OPENED IN ANY WAY INCLUDING BREAKING OF SHRINKWRAP AROUND STYROFOAM PACKING MATERIALS OR BREAKING OF GUMMED SEAL ON CARDBOARD CONTAINERS.

    ALL DEFECTIVE MERCHANDISE MUST BE RETURNED TO ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER FOR REPLACEMENT OR REPAIR.

    SHOULD  Model Train Crossing, AT OUR SOLE DISCRETION, AGREE TO ACCEPT A TRAIN SET FOR RETURN, WE WILL ISSUE YOU AN AUTHORIZED RMA NUMBER. AT YOUR EXPENSE THE TRAIN SET SHALL BE RETURNED TO  Model Train Crossing. WE RECOMMEND INSURING YOUR PARCEL FOR IT?S FULL VALUE AND USING A SHIPPING METHOD THAT EMPLOYS A TRACKING SYSTEM. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR TRAIN SETS THAT WE DO NOT RECEIVE EVEN IF AN AUTHORIZED RMA NUMBER HAS BEEN ISSUED.  Model Train Crossing WILL NOT ISSUE REFUNDS FOR RETURNED TRAIN SETS BUT ONLY A STORE CREDIT GOOD AT OUR WEB SITE.
